Neurodevelopmental Connections Service, Barnardo's, Kirklees
For children and young people of school age up to 18 years (and their families) who may be in need of some early support focussed on the child/young person's needs.
This is a Barnardo’s service that has secured funding until March 2026.
The referral pathway for this service is self-referral and may also come through the ND Family Navigator, Kirklees.
Who can access this service?
This service is available for children and young people who would benefit from early support focussed on their individual needs. Parents/carers can also be referred in and access parent/carer support with a focus on how they can best support their child/young.
To be eligible for the service, the child/young person must:
- be of school age up to 18 years.
- Be in need of early support with a focus on the child/young person's needs.
- You do not need to have a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD
- Give verbal consent to the referral and for the ND Connections Service to make contact.
How could a Neurodevelopmental Connector support me?
Our Kirklees Neurodevelopmental Connector will offer insight through their professional training and lived experience. They can work with children/young people and/or families for up to 4 appointments, but one session may be all that is needed.
Some of the sessions to support children/ young people and families could include:
- Better understanding of Autism and or/ADHD including individual needs.
- Home and school life.
- Feelings about relationships
- Communication
- Feelings about disclosure
- Self-advocacy
- Sleep
- Behaviour
- Food
How can I access the Neurodevelopmental Connections Service?
To access this service, you can contact the service by emailing

In some cases, the Neurodevelopmental Family Navigator Service, Kirklees, Barnardo’s, can make a referral once they have gained your verbal consent.
